Alex Cohen

When assembling the staff for the 2021 Mid Atlantic Drum Camp lineup, Sheila reached out to someone she was following on social media during the COVIC lockdown...Alex Cohen.  

Alex began working with SoMar Drummers as Artist in Residence in the 2021 Mid Atlantic Drum Camp.  While his impact in the drum world are acclaimed, his techniques and ingenuity are still emerging as Alex pushes the boundaries of the drum set, doing things previously thought to be impossible.​

His books set a new standard for polyrhythmic study and coordination exercises and are lauded by members of the drum industry.  He is currently working on his 3rd book, set for publication sometime late 2025.​ He's recorded educational videos with DRUMEO, on faculty at the Drummers' Collective in NYC and maintains a robust teaching and performance schedule.​
